I don't know if its common for the author to leave a review on their own work but I wanted to share something about the reasons that I wrote this amazing book. I was a drug addict and lost everything, and I was about to lose my freedom because I was sitting in Dorchester County Detention Center waiting to find out about 4 'bonus' felonies that magically appeared up on the NCIC background check, you see I had already pleaded into Drug Court for 2 other felonies when I was hit with 4 new felonies, all because of my addiction and running the streets to feed it. As I waited to find out what my future held, I picked up a pen and started writing, I had fought my addiction for the last few years but in the end it always won and kept me a prisoner, but this time something was different. I was able to put on paper what I couldn't talk about. I started seeing the patterns of addiction, I started to see its game plan and I definitely could see how it was destroying my life. I kept writing for about 90 days while I waited for the legal outcome, my new charges were eventually rolled up into my current drug court plead and I was released back to drug court. My story could have stopped there but thanks to the 70+ pages that I had written, my life was changed. I kept writing for a few more months as I started this 'journey' and I soon realized that this 'hope manual' that changed my life has the power to change other lives, so I set a target of 200 pages and when I hit my target I started to search for publishers. Nobody in the publishing world wants to hear about addiction or especially people in recovery doing good, its not sexy enough to sell books. I have donated hundreds of copies to local jails, treatment centers, recovery houses, anybody that wanted a copy because I believe in its power to change lives, because it changed mine. Hope you enjoy it, and please feel free to pass along any copies to anybody that needs it.
